The Pomodoro Technique

The Pomodoro Technique is a unique way of managing your time in intervals of 25 minutes whilst doing various tasks you set out to do.

I have always set aside a specific time frame to do tasks for example if I am giving some sort of homework I will look at the questions then think “ acha theek hai ye mai 9 bajai shuru karonga”, this is the mindset of more than half of the people Iknow. The thing is that this is not a very good idea, you need to set a specific time so that you realize either you are utilizing or wasting your precious time.

FUN FACT: We only have 1440 minutes in a day and as we all know we cannot bring this time back.

The Pomodoro technique is simple you perform your task for 25 minutes as focused as you can be, avoid distractions such as your phone and if anything comes in your mind that is not related to your task you should write that down. This signifies on how much importance you are giving the task you are doing.

Our project manager at AMAL Academy gave us a task to practice this technique and experience it first hand!
The task i set out to do, to complete my telecommunication assignment.

The first 20 minutes i religiously started to do the assigned task which was to create a network with various IP addresses (something complicated and very new to me), after the 20th minute i got a though in my head that i have almost completed this task so why not check my phone for a little while, i was very sad to experience this however i quickly noted this down and continued to work. After the second cycle of the pomodoro technique my task was reaching the end and i was getting a bit tired (yes i know i am a very weak human being) so i thought “bus ho hi gaya hai kal kar laingai”! Yes i was very disappointed by myself that i could have easily left this but i powered on to prove that i could be the better person and continue the pomodoro technique.

Finally after completing the assignment i realized that how i used to waste my whole day on completing task as i always used to give in to the voice of the instant gratification monkey (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arj7oStGLkU), whenever i felt that i had done something productive for a while.

I would recommend everyone to follow this technique and make themselves as productive as possible as our time is very important to us and if we waste it we will always have regrets in life!

P.S. A huge thank you to AMAL Academy for opening my eyes to this, i hope i can implement everything i learn and pass this knowledge to countless others!
